Botaniko Weston

Weston has built a reputation for its advantageous location, quality lifestyle, excellent schools, and abundant community amenities. But single-family homes and large lots were lagging. Collaborating with world-renowned architects, Terra reimagined an underperforming golf course. With 125 homes situated on 121 landscaped acres, Botaniko Weston transformed local links into a set of modern estates in one of South Florida’s most popular suburbs.

Architecture
& Design

Terra enlisted an award-winning team of two American Institute of Architects Fellows (FAIA) to implement and bring the design vision of Botaniko Weston to life - Chad Oppenheim and Roney J. Mateu. Known for conscientious design and sustainable architecture, Oppenheim has worked on projects in 23 countries and received more than 50 industry awards throughout his career. Equally impressive, Mateu has been the recipient of 65 awards for his work and excellence in design.

Homes at Botaniko, are designed with a focus on seamless flow and transition from indoor to outdoor living space in mind, with the idea that each home has a strong connection to, and balance with, the surrounding natural landscape. As such, Oppenheim and Mateu considered outdoor areas as part of the overall design objective, creating spaces for entertaining, recreation, and relaxation that are purpose-built for being an extension of nature. Many of the homes at Botaniko boast lakefront views, private pools, covered patios, and outdoor summer kitchens. The Landscape Design Workshop accented these environments with lush green spaces that are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, giving each home a sense of place within a natural atmosphere. Interiors by V Starr, the interior design firm led by American tennis champion Venus Williams, further reinforce this idea of seamlessness with furnishings and fixtures that frame and highlight picturesque views throughout each residence.

Neighborhood Spotlight

Located in southwestern Broward County, Weston consistently ranks in Money Magazine’s list of Top 10 Best Places to Live in America. It is known for a superior quality of life, highlighted by access to more than 100 acres of flawlessly maintained public parks and recreational facilities, A-rated schools, a wide variety of year-round cultural and community events, and a walkable town center featuring boutique shopping, dining, and nightlife. Though its gated communities are regarded as private and exclusive, Weston is very well connected to all South Florida has to offer. Downtown Fort Lauderdale is less than 20 minutes away; Miami is a 30-minute drive south, and the beautiful coastal shores of Southeast Florida’s beaches are only a short drive away.

Creative Use of Land

Throughout South Florida, land scarcity continues to be a challenge for new, large-scale development. At the same time, the demand for single-family dwellings and low-density suburban living has continues to increase, especially in Weston. This, coupled with homeowner association rules regarding redevelopment and architectural styles in existing neighborhoods, effectively stifled the creation of new, modern homes in the area. Botaniko was built in response to this dilemma, by offering an all-new neighborhood within the city of Weston boundaries that would reflect contemporary architectural tastes and design preferences, while still maintaining the upscale character of the entire city.

Terra acquired 121-acres of the former Bonaventure Country Club golf course, which had been underperforming in recent years. The team then studied development patterns to identify the best way to repurpose the land with respect to zoning restrictions and local codes. The result was a community of 125 homes that deliver a fresh, new take on luxury living, without sacrificing any of the intimacy or exclusivity for which Weston has come to be known.
